Understanding Official USDA 840 ear tags
Posted by on
A USDA 840 official ear tag is a source of animal identification that, with accurate movement records, provides the ability to trace animals to their origin. Each tag contains 15 digits beginning with 840 (the USA country code). The remaining 12 digits on the tag are unique to the individual animal. 840 tags come in visual or EID styles. Both are accepted forms of official ID.
